Overview

Driveable is a mobile app that connects businesses with cost-effective freight providers and allows them to optimize their shipping routes. The app uses machine learning to find the best shipping rates and routes for each shipment.

Goals

  • Simplify the shipping process for businesses: The app should make it easy for businesses to find the best freight providers and shipping rates, and to track their shipments.
  • Help businesses save money on shipping: The app should use machine learning to find the most cost-effective shipping options for each shipment.
  • Increase customer satisfaction: The app should provide a user-friendly experience that makes businesses happy with their shipping experience.

My Role

I was also responsible for the overall UX design of the app, including the app’s visual design, typography, and icons. I worked closely with the product team to ensure that the app’s design met the needs of users and the business goals of the company.

Outcome

  • Increased number of users: The app should attract more businesses to use the app, as word-of-mouth spreads about the app’s ease of use and cost-saving benefits.

Problem

Businesses often have to spend a lot of time and effort researching different freight providers and shipping rates to find the best option for their needs. This can be a time-consuming and frustrating process, especially for businesses that ship frequently.

Solution

Driveable can solve this problem by providing businesses with a single platform where they can compare shipping rates from various providers. The app also uses machine learning to identify each shipment’s most cost-effective shipping options. Improving shipping efficiency can save businesses a lot of time and money.

Research

I researched to understand the needs of businesses and drivers/freight providers. I began by conducting a competitive analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of other shipping apps. However, as I was working remotely and the interviews had to be done in person, the project manager interviewed users to understand their shipping challenges and pain points.

Despite these challenges, I was able to gather valuable insights from my research. This information helped me to design a user experience that is tailored to the needs of businesses.

The competitive landscape for Driveable is crowded, with many other apps and websites offering similar services. I narrowed it down to two competitors that align with Driveable.

Learnings

I learned a lot about the importance of user-centered design. I learned that it is essential to put the user first and to design the app with their needs in mind. I also learned that it is important to iterate on the design and to get feedback from users throughout the development process.

One of the key learnings I had was the importance of clear and concise communication.
